Transcending Culture

Transcending Culture is a blog and podcast attempting to analyze the dilemma of proclaiming the gospel to our media driven culture. American Christians are surrounded and inundated by the superficial attractions of the postmodern world. To add, the church itself is failing to step up to the plate in addressing this issue effectively, thus adapting to the culture. But Jesus is more than culturally relevant, He transcends culture itself.

wow, that's a good one Tres. Hey, I went out evangelizing, "way of the Master" style for the first time two weeks ago. It was a powerful experience to share the gospel with someone on the street and I plan on doing it again soon. I always kind of wanted to go with you guys at Asbury but I found a fellow med-student who does it so I went with a group he goes with. I went with a guy who has done it a lot and I learned by watching him. I talked to a Mormon lady for a while and got to the point of sharing the gospel. It was very cool.

Hey Matt,
That's awesome that you have had the opportunity to go out and witness. It sure is a life-changing experience. "The Way of the Master" style, or simply using the law in evangelism, is something that we as the church have really lost. The law has such a supernatural effect of breaking hard hearts and preparing the way for the gospel that it is amazing. I've seen people's attitude change and hearts humbled before my very eyes. Using the law to bring out the knowledge of sin is something that Wesley believed in and something that I long to see Wesleyans (and all Christians, for that matter) return to.
